The museum is located in a storehouse of the shipyard from the 1850s. The museum was opened in the summer of 1989 in an old storehouse, so-called Nikkaripirtti (fin. carpenter’s cabin). Veitsiluoto Oy donated the building to the city of Oulu and the Northern Ostrobothnia Museum.
The museum features a wide range of equipment from the times of the shipyard and the sawmill.
